Europe's largest weevil. Happily having a late afternoon snack on his food plant, butterbur. This is a truly wonderful insect.

Gosh, this is a thread from the dead!

This weevil is found in spring in Central Europe. The food plant, butterburr is widespread and typically found close to mountain streams. The site I took these shots, I can guarantee to find this weevil and many others every year.
