I have a wedding coming up and need about 3-4 flashes. The Canon 600ex-rt are a bit out of my price range.

For the price of one Canon 600ex-rt I can can pick up 4 of the Yongnuo YN600 and use them for off camera flash.

I have some questions.

1. How do you like them compare to the Canon 600ex?

2. Are they reliable?

3. Are you happy with the purchased of the Yongnuo?

Somewhere here, there is a large and detailed comparison thread, which covers all of the differences between the two.

I have both and think that the YN version is 90+ percent as good as the Canon version. I think you will be much happier with four YN units than one Canon.

The YN version is a great flash and nearly an identical clone to the Canon.

1. I have not used a Canon 600-RT, so factor that in.
2. I'm not a professional photographer, but do shoot a lot.
3. I have two YN600EX-RTs and the controller. I also have a YN568 (think that is the model) and a YN-RT receiver to use it as a third flash

So far they have worked great. Love being able to do all the controls from either the Yongnuo controller or the built in menus on my 7d2. I only have one gripe and that is the the covers over the ports just don't stay in place. The doors are fine, but the hard rubber covers on the external cable and other ports end up flapping around. Occasionally I find the group number will reset on the flashes. Haven't noticed whether it is the same flash that does it or just a matter of having the batteries out too long. I wouldn't even have gone this route if I had to pay for a Canon flash.

Thank you.

I've decided to go with a Yongnuo YN600 for now. I'm able to pick up 4 yongnuo for the price of one canon flash. Photography isn't a full time job for me, but I do make a little income on the side from it. I figure I can buy more later on if 1-2 fails on me.

When do you need the flashes? I have two Canon 600 RT's I was planning on putting up for sale in about 2 weeks. Condition = 10 and complete with original boxes, cases, manuals, etc. Low mileage and not a scratch on them.

I'm not saying this because I'm trying to dupe you and this has ben posted many times here. If you are a working pro get Canon and if a hobbyist get Yongnuo. They will sell when I'm ready to put them up but if your are interested let me know.

My post at the thread mentioned above: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=17773280

I would like to add that I have come to the conclusion that the Yongnuo YN600's are pretty much junk. Out of the three that I bought 1 has died and sometimes a flash will go into thermal protection mode without ever being fired. So I have invested $189 for the two YN600's that are still working out of the 3. So much for being frugal.

For the little I've used mine they seem fine. They are a bit cheaper in construction though. I dropped one from about a foot onto carpet and the diffuser broke.

My opinion of Yongnuo in general is great triggers, crappy flashes.
