Pete, that's some real motion! Give your model my regards, or some fish or whatever he likes.

Thanks all!!!
First OhLook nice shots for this weeks topic...

To PeteD & OhLook.. the photo was gotten by taking a bird of paradise flower (& stem) & attaching it to a broom handle. Then holding the camera & broom handle during a long exposure (for daylight scene) while turning with the broom handle out of the photo.. blurs the background but keeps subject in focus. Took a few tries but luckily didn't waste a roll of film doing it lol..

PeteD.. not bad for a broken apple.. lol...

Nice ideas here. All photos are great, I particularly like the cat tail and the paradise flower.

Here are two photos of traffic
this is with a welding glass in front of the lens, it made the fast moving traffic disappear...

And this pointy thing . . .

I really like this moon shot, OhLook.

Very nice shots by all to start the week. Spent the last 2 hours on the old Dell Dimension and Windows XP trying to get the photos shot in RAW to upload.

Anyhow, Cooper lended me a hand on this one. Well, a tail. Multiple shots taken and stitched to show motion today. Sorry, no tripod so there is some movement shown there also.:-(:lol:

Nicely done, Pete.

Pete, that was a good idea. I do think it's a pity you didn't use a tripod but you could also say that your entire pic is now moving and as such fits the theme well! :p

InPhoto, I had planned to do something very similar, but you beat me to it. I love the shots!

Paul, I bet Sophie didn't mind going in the water for the pic at all! Dogs always seem to enjoy a swim so much. Love the pic.

So, as InPhoto beat me to it, I had to think of something else. And what do you know, we had a bit of a lightning storm yesterday. Of course it's wicked hard to time the shots because you never know when it's going to strike and of course the moment it does, you're already too late. There were much much better lightning bolts, but this is the one I got. And basically did the same thing Pete did. :) These are two consecutive shots.

Thank you all very much. I would loved to have had the tripod but you know how life is. If I would have went to get it, Cooper would have moved and the shot would have been gone. But at least the moving from not having it also fits the theme :p

Wow! Some great shots already this week and some great interpretations on the theme.

Pete, great idea with Cooper. That is such a cat thing.

John, I figured that was how you did that shot, but thanks for the explanation.

InPhoto, I was thinking about something like the traffic shots too! Well done!

Levina, lightning shots are always tricky, but you did a great job, and I like the little 2 shot animation. BTW, they make some fairly inexpensive lightning triggers for cameras these days. I have a couple and am awaiting a decent storm when I can go out & shoot again.

I went out to my nearby park to try to get some photos of deer and was really hoping to get a panning shot, but the deer I saw were mostly back in the woods or hiding out in the brush. However, I did come upon this young male and surprised both him and me. I caught him mid-chew. I hope that's close enough for the theme. Even though it's a deer, the video of the screaming goat (external link) pops into my head whenever I look at this.

And on the way home, I tried for more of an abstract shot with motion. I was pointing the camera out of the window as I was driving down the road back home & got this. I thought it was kinda interesting.

Nice reflection on Sophie's picture, Paul and I bet she loves retrieving sticks in the water.

What great timing for lightning and I love the effect, Levina.

I'll bet that water is still quite cold, Paul! Seems like you had snow pretty recently. Brrrrr :-P

I like the way that the clouds light up with the lightening strike!
Well timed, Levina.

That deer rivals the screaming goat! It looks like you must have surprised him. :p

Also, InPhoto, I like the second shot, with the ghost autos!

I really like this moon shot, OhLook.

Thanks, John and Stina!

There's quite a bit of variety in the interpretations so far. What else to use for motion? -? Well, it was windy today, and I tried for shots of branches and leaves blowing in the gusts, but those didn't really work out. Then I set up a marble to roll on a sheet of stiff paper and took umpty-diddle disappointing shots. Most of them just looked like a blurred marble sitting still. I think this one was the most successful at suggesting motion.
