I have the xtr-16 in the video from Jimmy and Cheetahstand sent him a new one. I tested and tested it and it works just fine with my setups. Not sure why it was not working for him and he got a replacement and then returned all his stuff back for a refund.

I have 3 Canon and 1 Nikon X1 transmitters, and numerous XTR-16 receivers. I have not experienced any issues with the Nikon X1 transmitter and XTR 16 combo, when making power changes or when turning individual Groups On or Off but, all 3 of my Canon X1's do have issues with transferring power changes when using the XTR 16 receivers. It is especially annoying when trying to turn individual Groups On or Off when using the Canon X1's. In the video it looked like he was using the "Test" button to transfer the power setting in the X1 to the XTR 16 receivers. I found it more reliable to just double press the "Gr" button in this situation.

The best solution I found when using flash units with the XTR 16 receivers and when using the X1 transmitter is to mount an XT-16 transmitter in the hot shoe of the X1 and use the XT 16 transmitter to control the flash units with the XTR 16 receivers. Or if you're going with a manual only setup is to use an XT 32 transmitter in lieu of the X1.

I am not sure if Godox will fix these issues with a future firmware update but since I refuse to update my X1 transmitters past v12 I would never know nor do I care, because using the XT 16 or XT 32 transmitters, as I have described above, has solved all my issues and given me one less things to worry about. Which reminds me, I need to order another XT 32 transmitter.

FWIW, I described a repeatable bug related to turning off groups with the X1T-C / Xtr-16 combo a while ago.

Short version:
In Group ("Gr") mode, when a group is turned off on the X1T-C, an AD360 / XTR-16 set to that group will NOT be set to to "OFF" unless all groups lower in the alphabet than the selected group are also off.

Owen I remember seeing your post but by then I had found that the XT16/X1 combo worked best for me since I will only be using the XTR16 receivers when I need more than 5 Groups. Adding the XT16 to the X1 allows me to expand beyond 5 Groups and I do not have any issues. I also added the XT32 which works just as well when I am going Manual only.

I will admit that before the XT16 was released I spent many hours trying to figure how to make the Canon X1 transmitters work with the XTR16 receivers but I never stumbled upon the solution you found. The issues I was having with the Canon X1 and the XTR16 receivers is one of the two main reasons that prompted me to buy the Nikon version X1 transmitter. The other being that I was looking for the ability to use 5 Groups (in Manual mode) with my 5DmII. The good thing about Godox is that where there is a will there is a way.

Now that I have XT16 and XT32 transmitters there is no longer a need for me to use only the X1 transmitter with the XTR16 receivers. I have 3 AD360II's and 3 AD600B's so there will be very few situations where I will need to use the XTR16's and any of my Manual only Godox flash units. I recently did a shoot where I could have definitely used 10-12 flash units but I forgot to bring my case with my Manual Godox flash units and XTR16 receivers as well as any of my Speedlites. So my main issues now seem to be with my memory and organizational skills.

My X1Tc can not turn the strobe off (if using xtr16/16s receiver) even if the lower alphabet groups are turned off.

There is no problem if I use X1Ts (sony) on A7 camera.

Still waiting for Godox to update their X1Tc firmware.
