Thanks again for everyone's input.

Really happy with the camera. It's such a great camera. To me you get so much bang for your buck. If it had pict bridge it would be perfect ;-)a

Feels great, boat load of features inclusive of a couple of unique ones, easy to use and navigate on the fly, really nice image quality etc.

Question.... When it was first released, was it a wild success or was it sort of a niche camera?

Just curious.

It was a big success. A small percentage had some focusing problems which were not camera design related. The 7D2 is sound.Canon replaced the mirror box assembly for one member, a few members exchanged theirs and others went in for calibration. Most successful. One member here had his replaced by Canon, not sure if there were more. This was about the same percentage at other sites.

Cue Monty Python skit :)

I was calmly reading this entire thread, gathering background for the potential purchase of a 7D Mark II. I got to this post and was completely overcome with the desire for a dark beer and something to smoke. That takes me back to the middle '70s! Talk about Pavlovian training!

Ok, back to camera research, but with a smile! :)

Many Python was the best. I'd like to have an argument. No you don't.

Plus no pictures of flowers, or mountains.. or people... (no icons, so you can't shoot those!)

so I have to shoot horses with mine. I find it perfectly fits my needs.

Someone else I think said it best, for their work, they use their 1Dx... but for their walk around they carry their 7D2... Course, I use my 7D2 for work, and my phone for my walk around.. oh wait, no I don't. the darn thing goes with me everywhere. It is a great all around camera.

I recently upgraded my 5D2 to a 5D3.. but the 7D2 is what goes with me everywhere. if you have to have very short DOF, or better high iso then 5D3 makes sense, but for everything else, I'll use the 7D2.

I loved my 7D, but felt I needed the 7DII for many reasons, and I also went from the 70-200 2.8 IS to the II version just before getting my 7DII. The combo is what I use exclusively for sports and at events when I don't want to be in someone's face. But it is clear to me that the FF 5DII I have is amazing still for portraits. The 24-70 is attached to it most of the time, or the 17-40 when I'm out shooting landscapes. That being said, I really want to upgrade my 5DII, which is getting very high on the shutter count. I am waiting for the 5D? when it comes out.

The 7D2 is basically much faster and more fun than I thought it would be. I have not been dissatisfied with it. Focus has not been a problem, I use center focus mostly. I am still playing with all the settings. There is so much technology these days I don't even tap into.

If you are not desperate for a change, then wait with me. I think the new 5D? will be awesome. With SONY, N*kon and Leica coming up with really great offerings, Canon must get their stuff together or else be left in the dust.

My children and grandchildren are the reason, but it's the passion that drives me to get the perfect image of everything.

My carry around is my 7DII with my 70-200 F4L IS lens, its wide enough for a landscape and long enough on the 7DII to capture wildlife and the 70-200 F4 is extremely sharp. If I go out to seriously just get wildlife I put the Tamron on (150-600). If I need shallow DOF and seriously only plan on landscapes or portraits I take the 5DIII. But I actually find shooting with 7DII more enjoyable.

I had it in my car this evening when there was a random 15 minutes of good light and captured these photos pretty much as shot with just a bit of colour saturation and contrast added, I probably would never have got the swallow if Id been using my 5dIII, that 10FPS is awesome

Just a reaction to the two posts above, s'il vous plait. My 6D serves all my non-sports/athletic needs. I love it. The 7DII will be primarily (if I get one) a sports/action body to replace my 1DIII.

if they could just bring out a 5D4 as fast as the 7DII with at least 30 mega pixels I think I could get by with just one camera

The 7D2 does pretty good at those things usually "reserved" for full frame. :D

That is what I'm hoping for. I'd settle for 8 FPS. I am going to wait for the announcement before making a move.

I cant really afford to upgrade anyway, personally think I have the perfect duo in 5DIII and 7DII
