Found this beautiful wolf on a carcass in the Lamar Valley during my recent visit to Yellowstone.

Yet another nice set,

Good looking Wolf, seems very aware of you or something near you, how close?

It seems you had a very productive visit to Yellowstone.

Thanks for sharing

Kev

Not very close, probably 130-140 yards.

Love your shots. Thanks for the trip report updates on YNET as well. We leave Friday morning for 8 days (last 2 in Jackson).
I don't think we'll have the luck you did (Luck in this case directly correlating with knowledge and persistence!), but we sure hope to get in some good viewing time!

Good luck Rick! Seems to be getting pretty crowded now.

That's what I was afraid of. Last time there was 2 years ago, same time frame. I keep kicking myself for not going earlier, but you never know with the weather!
My wife and I have gone through all the recent trip reports and highlighted areas of sightings, with a written description on a separate sheet. If you have any suggestions, a PM is greatly appreciated!

Your trip started out slow, but certainly escalated quickly with that Wolf/Bear encounter! Well done!

I've been going earlier every year. It's a bit inconvenient because of the roads that are closed, but it's worth it to avoid the crowding. I'd go in the winter if it wasn't so expensive (would have to get a hotel).
