I'm off to the Farne Islands (north east England) in a couple of weeks to spend a couple of days photographing Puffins.
I did the same trip last year, but got frustrated switching between lenses, this year I'm planning on taking my 5D3 with a 500 f4 attached, and a 1D3 with either a 100 or 200mm 2.8.

The 1D3 isn't a problem, I use the Canon wide strap intended for the 500, but I need something beefier for the biggun, especially as I'll be on my feet all day. Any ideas?

Depends on how you want to carry it. If you are looking to sling it over a shoulder I like the Kirk Security Strap. Or there's a clamp you can get from RRS that you can add your own strap to.

I don't own, nor have used these, but they have caught my eye.

Black Rapid seems to have dual straps:

I obviously can't make a recommendation (good or bad) about these, I merely note their availability.

I carry two bodies and lenses fairly frequently.

my normal system is the short lens on a Spiderholster on my right hip, the long lens on a monopod over my shoulder.
if i need the short lens i either put the long lens down, or hug the monopod with my left arm and the lens balanced on my shoulder, zooming/supporting with my fingers, and holding the camera up with my right hand.

I use the Cotton Carrier for my 300 f2.8 IS II. I also used it with the 400 DO II and 500 f4 that I rented. Works great, I highly recommend.

If you look at the following video, you'll see the camera/lens has to be rotated 90 degrees to insert & remove from the CC. This "locks" the camera
in place for safety. But since I use my camera at air shows, walking on flat ground, I don't need that feature. So I mount the camera hub 90 degrees
off. This allows the camera to be inserted & removed in a straight up down motion. No rotation required. I think it makes using the CC a bit easier.

I've been using the CC for 4 years and it's the best large lens carry solution I have found.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

Thanks for the suggestions all. If it makes any difference, last year I sued the 500 loads more than the 200, so that's the one that I would like the easiest 'access' to.

We'll be spending two full days in the islands, so a monopod will be essential otherwise my wrists start to complain!

Likewise, been doing it this way for many years. (I just use a regular Optech neck strap for the smaller lens/body though)

In addition to the monopod, as I hike around I usually have the lens strap around my neck should something go catastrophically wrong like a head bolt breaking etc.. never needed it but might as well have the added insurance.

By the way, put the 70-200mm on the 2nd body for flexibility, not another prime. My usual two gun kit is 500mm on one and 100-400mm on the 2nd body. If scenics are part of the program, the 100-400mm is swapped with something wider, 24-70mm or 16-35mm.

This method by the way worked for me for 10 days trecking across various Galapagos islands, in and out of little boats at difficult landings etc.

Oops, just noticed my sig is out of date, I no longer have the 70-200, but I can borrow one for the weekend. Good idea!

I too am looking for a dual camera strap. Maybe someone can shed light, alternative, recommendation or thoughts on Hold Fast Gear's Money Maker strap? http://holdfastgear.com …eather-multi-camera-strap (external link) add the Canadian exchange and shipping, pretty sure I have designer belts that cost less...

I do however like the minimal footprint though. Has anyone used the Money Maker or an alternative?

Man I might snag something like this. I gave myself a good shoulder muscle ache recently having two camera strap around my neck.

I also carry two rigs frequently. I always have the big lens and a body on a tripod, and carry that over my shoulder. The other body with the smaller lens (100-400) I usually carry in a backpack, but will, at times, carry it from a strap hanging around my neck.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
