I've had this problem for quite awhile, and it's happened on 2 different PC's. I've just never bothered to troubleshoot it.

Basically, when I'm using either the clone stamp or healing brush tools in Photoshop, when I attempt to sample a good area by holding ALT and tapping with the pen, the sample doesn't take and the tool is still sampling from the previous area.

For example, say I'm using the healing brush on a model's forehead. I move down to her cheek, attempt to sample on her cheek, then start brushing on her cheek but the sampled area is still up on her forehead. So I have to sample on her cheek again. And sometimes I have to take the sample 3, 4, or even 5 times. By now I'm literally pounding on the tablet with my pen trying to get the damn thing to take a sample in the spot I want it.

Has anyone else ever seen this or have any ideas how to fix it?

Jason

Can you tell us if Alt-tapping works for other purposes?

For example, if you open a photo then choose the Brush Tool, holding down the Alt key should turn the cursor temporarily into the eyedropper tool, and tapping should sample a new colour onto the foreground swatch on the Toolbar. Does that work for you as described?

Do you have "Aligned" option checked in the clone stamp tool menu?

Flip the pen around and try doing the same with the eraser bit, it might be a problem with the actual pressure sensor. Is your Intuos a recent model?

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.
