:love:She fledged on July 4th!:love:More photos and videos can be seen in an album on my Flickr page::-) https://flic.kr/s/aHskxnkghZ (external link):-)

With any luck, I will be adding to this thread with video links and photos. Still incubating the eggs at this point. You may have to follow the link to flickr to view the videos. They are short!

Mom near the end of her day shift...

From my home, I heard her call out to her mate shortly before dark. He returned her call from the distance, so I grabbed my camera and tripod and quickly got set up for him to take over for the night shift. Here's the video of his arrival...

And then...House keeping...that feather has got to go, and it did! I should have left the focus button alone!

That's one big poplar to handle nesting pileated. Several winters ago I had a pair working a hole in one of ours, but the diameter wasn't suitable for them to nest. I'll look forward to more of your shots, Sandy.

Thanks Al! Here's a photo that shows a second hole above the nesting hole.

Good for you Sandy!
I still treasure the experience of photographing our nesting pileated woodpeckers two years ago.
My 100-400 lens paid for itself in one month . . . even though I never sold any pictures :-)
Enjoy the ride and share a bunch of pictures!
Good luck!

Great stuff Sandy. I have yet to find a pileated nest hole, so take every chance to get some great shots :)

A few more shots to add. I don't think the eggs have hatched yet because an adult returns to the nest, takes over for the other adult, and then nothing...

The male answers the call of the female:

The female takes a little break from tending the nest:

These are great Sandy! Be patient and keep taking pictures. When the babies hatch, they will start to make an undulating buzzing noise when they hear their parents come near. Then the fun of photographing this precious scene really begins.
I envy you!!
I hope nothing happens to spoil this!

Thanks Barry for the tips and the compliment! I'm going to think positive thoughts about the success for them, and for me!
