Upland Sandpiper & Marbled Godwit

A couple of nifty grassland birds from SW Manitoba. The upland sandpiper migrates to and from Argentina each year.

Thanks, Ken. We get the odd one in our county, but for the most part must drive further west to find reliably find them.

Thanks, Ian. The upland sandpiper is an easy one to ID. First off, they are found in upland areas, not the shorelines. They are large and have a bulbous head. Quite simply, they look like an upland sandpiper! The marbled godwit was a satisfying capture for me; my other shots of them were not good at all. We also saw a Hudsonian godwit, which was a lifer for me, but the shots of that were poor.
