I have been reading so many good things about the sensor, AF and tracking performance I almost want to buy one. How do you move the AF points around without a multi-controller.

There is multi controller but not a joystick
You can also move it with the 2 dials
I do like better the jstick as in my 7D but it is not so bad

I've never used a camera with a joystick but for me using the 2 dials works very well (and is quite fast): one for moving the AF point up/down, the other for moving it left/right. Once you got the hang of it (which direction of turning the dial is e.g. up and wich direction on the other one is e.g. left) changing AF point is really quick.

C&C always welcome

Thank you very much for posting this! I printed it out just in case I need to do shooting like this (I might if I do hockey as a paid gig this fall).

If you are thinking about an 80D, just do it. I am now using it and my old 5D11-guess which one handles better and has some very useful features like a swivel screen? My 5D11 is feeling lonely, cleaner base ISO noise or not ( and the 80D is better at 3200-6400 ISO-not less grain noise, but no purple blooming and cross hatching in the shadows :)

My wife noticed an immediate improvement in AF with her 80D from the 70D.

The 80D has exposure compensation in manual mode, anti-flicker, min shutter to 8k if need be... digital zoom in video (3x works great), servo control on video, it has all sorts of good features.

80D is one fantastic camera! IQ is great too
