Just wondering if/when I should make the upgrade from Windows 7. Does anyone have input on their experience upgrading to Windows 10 re: compatibility/problems with using Photoshop & Lightroom CC, OnOne, NIK, Topaz, etc.?
Thanks.

But.. And thats a big but, driver problems! I've had many problems connecting new devices and I ended up going back to w7 within the week. As long as you don't have driver issues all is good. I had two Windows machines of the same brand and upgraded both. I learned the hard drive driver couldn't handle Win10. So I now own two bricks and two Apple systems. Actually quite happy with that. Old ones were okay. It seemed only to delete the most recent one. Actually, it's not so inexplicable. Some numb nuts programmer flubbed the loop on directory sub-folders. Apparently nobody at Microsoft picked up on it during testing. Luckily I had the foresight to make a backup of my whole drive. Joe

The older they are the less likely a driver will exist. Hardware more than about 5 years old may be an issue. The same might apply to firmware. When I made the move from Win XP Pro to Win 7 Pro I had to replace my color printer. I hated to do it because it had wonderful quality. Ultimately I got a refurbished HP color from MicroCenter that does beautiful prints.

Systems built using newer hardware (Z87, Z97, Z170, X99, X79) all updated with no issues and have been running fine for almost a year. I also updated a couple of older, near identical X58 systems and there were driver problems which caused instability, in the end I reinstalled Win 7 on those two machines. 5D MkII Gripped | 7D MkII Gripped | 200 f/2.8L | 17-40 f/4L | Σ 24-105 OS f/4 Art | Σ 50 f/1.4 Art | Σ 150-600 OS f/5-6.3 C | 430EX II

It's possible to get the Win10 & then revert back if you have a problem: I have good news for you: you can claim your free Windows 10 upgrade now (or by July 29) and keep on running your familiar old Windows version indefinitely. This is not a trick, or a hack, or anything illegal. It’s a feature built into the Windows 10 upgrade process by Microsoft, who obviously doesn’t want to draw a lot of attention to it. http://askbobrankin.com …1bYN&awt_m=JkozZsf4leP6SL FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...

Jun 02, 2016 12:02 | #12 Microsoft has gotten sneaky with this upgrade. Now if you just close the "upgrade to windows 10?" box it does it automatically. Plus it downloads all the installation files. Filled the limited space on my sisters tablet.
