(both apps come from Canon)

I realized yesterday that my 70D's WIFI capability could probably allow me to remote shoot from my iPhone. Duh, late to the party because I've always used the ultra-cool, ultra-reliable CamRanger.

I set up a WIFI "Set" on the cam, downloaded EOS Remote, and voila, it worked. (ONCE!)
It also gave me a message that Canon preferred I used Camera Connect.

So then I downloaded Camera Connect from the App Store - was never able to get it to connect to the 70D, though the cam is listed as compatible.

OK, I thought, I still have EOS Remote working, so I'll always have a remote control in my pocket - Cool!

Not so cool, because the next time I connected up, I could no longer select focus points using the touch screen, though I could manually focus.

Anybody have experience, good, bad or indifferent? I'm not too upset about this, since CamRanger does so much and so well, but, that Canon's own solution seems to be unreliable makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong. And having a simple remote on the phone seems mighty attractive IF I can get it to work reliably.

Is there a good 3rd-party guide to Canon WIFI out there?

EOS Remote = end of life / unsupported application

Canon Camera Connect = application you should be using. I have 70D works great with both my iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2.

Thanks; I'll take another run at Canon Camera Connect after deleting yesterday's setups.

Hopefully I'll have the same positive experience as MiamiC70.

I had the same issue and didn't use that function for over a year. First, clear your wifi setting from your EOS70D then follow this video, although it is using the old Canon Remote, but connection setup is the same. I just did it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuaslGmfxiY (external link)

I actually find the camera connect easier to use over the EOS remote. Let me know how it works out for you!
