Peregrine Nest at Yaquina Head

Just north of Newport, Oregon behind the Visitor's Center of the Yaquina Head Natural Area, the rocky steep cliffs provide a safe nesting area for Peregrine Falcons.....I clicked a few this morning. Mom or Dad was perched maybe 100 ft away on a smaller ledge....

Mind if I ask you a few of questions? - Are these crops? if so, could you post an uncropped version? Are they hand held?

I'm considering a 5DSr as a walk around for birds with the 100-400, any insights from your experience of this combination?

They are handheld....though supported by my Outback door.....

Your choices seem excellent, as both lens and camera are wonderful......but one of the
advantages of this camera is it's ability to crop and still retain good IQ....uncropped files are large.

Thanks for the response - dropbox is fine, but I was just after an idea how how big a crop your peregrines were, so the full frame resized to 1280 and posted here would also be fine... Whichever is easier for you.

I'm really torn at the moment, I keep saying I'm not going to buy another Canon body until they stop drip feeding us features and improvements. I can get a Nikon D810 and the Nikkor 200-500 for a couple of hundred more than the 5DSr body, that would give me an opportunity to look at the dark side, but may not help me on weight limited upcoming trips.

Oh decisions, decisions!
