I am NOT interested in a trade.

500mm is sold!

I am still looking for a buyer for either the f/2L IS or f/1.8L.
I am going to be out of the country until the July 14th, thus I have not taken the time to properly relist the 200mm lenses.

If you are interested, shoot me a PM and I will get back to you as soon as I have internet again, or when I get back on the 14th.

---------------
I have a 500mm Version II on it's way, and need to recoup the cost.

Turning this thread into the 500mm for sale thread, I'll post images of the 200mm's in a separate for sale thread.

I am selling two of three lenses being listed.

EF 500mm f/4L IS (Version 1) $3,800.00 <- Price Reduced
Condition is functionally 10, cosmetically 8.
It works perfectly, has no damage to glass at all.
It has some cosmetic wear from use.

The hood is damaged, it fits and functions as it should but it was "compressed" at one point and has a crack that shows the fiberglass.

.. and of course it still bears the markings it got on it's first trip to Africa! ;)

It comes with the original case, original leather lens cap, it has a 4th Generation design low profile Arca foot installed, and the original foot will be included. It's been wearing and will include a camo lenscoat.

Tons more and larger full res photos available here;

You'll have to scroll through old gear to PAGE 8 ;)

I will also be selling one of the following, I'll put them in a separate thread later when I get time for photos.

EF 200mm f/2L IS OR EF 200mm f/1.8L (I will sell only one)

EF 200mm f/2L IS $4,300.00 Condition is mint. In case with manuals, keys etc.

EF 200mm f/1.8L USM $3,500.00 Excellent copy in original lens trunk.

I somehow managed to end with both of these. I've been intended to try and figure out which I want to keep, but thus far have failed. My decision will be made by which one sells first.

Images of lenses and taken with lenses to be posted at a later date.

I like paypal for payment. Would love a local sale, but that's never happened. :)
Prices include shipping and insurance to the lower 48.

Just a free bump to the thread with a question. Why is the f/2.L more expensive than the 1.8? Because of the IS? or is f/2 sharper?

The 1.8 is a much older lens, no longer serviced by canon. It used to go for much more than he's selling for. Correct me if I'm wrong, Jake.

I agree with these statements. I own the f1.8, and while the other has IS, it doesn't have F1.8. I believe in the end it comes down to a comfort factor. Are you more comfortable with a newer lens that if a fault comes up you can readily have fixed, or would you like the very little extra light and the nostalgia of such a amazing piece as the 200 f1.8. Jake has been around here for years, and by all means knows his gear. So I will not try to speak for him, these are just my experiences and opinions.

These prices appear to be what the market asks of each. Also, the F/2L IS is essentially a new lens condition, where as the f/1.8 though very clean, is much older.

I've been waiting for that f1.8 to come down into the mid-high $2k range. $3500 is so much money if something goes wrong. My local repair shop doesn't work on lenses Canon has stopped servicing.

Images taken with the EF 500mm f/4L IS

This lens has been with me through thick and thin, it's always been treated well, and it's treated me well in return.

Wow. I'm glad I sold mine back in March when prices were higher. If I hadn't just snagged a 500 II, I'd be all over this. Great deal; this lens will make someone happy for a looooong time!

GLWS!
