Decided to try some $16 macro tubes, They were meant for NEX crop bodies so I was optimistic about them working on my A7 but they work quit well!

(on a A6000,A6300,NEX you shouldn't have any vignetting issues or if you toss your A7 into crop mode)

Only minor vignetting, when using the 10 or 16mm tube independently the AF is actually really good! didn't even notice any slow down.

You can easily crop out the vignette or leave it as is, like I did in this sample.

I was impressed by the quality, at $16 with free shipping(Fedex from Los Angeles) I was expecting much less than this but I was presently surprised.

The reason I got these is because the MFD on the FE 50mm 1.8 is rather long at 18 inches, I asked on the macro forum how to get it down to 9 and they said a 25mm tube but all I needed was the 10 and it brought it down to 8 inches!

Now this isn't some miracle product, it isn't going to get you 5:1 results like you see on the package. Also when you stack both tubes together the AF gets so slow its not usable. So MF is best in that situation, and the vignette is severe, but if you don't need to stack them they work phenomenal. For $16 there isn't much more you can get. Heck when I had to order replacement lens caps from Sony it cost me $25! for two dinky pieces of plastic.

I will be adding more samples to this thread later on, just have had it a few hours. Ordered on Saturday and received them today!(Monday)

Do you know of any calculators that tell you what magnification you will get with tubes? I have a Pentax mount 90mm macro which is 1:2 and just ordered Pentax tubes (12mm & 36mm) and curious what magnification I will get (they haven't arrived yet)
