SABOTAGE at Canon NJ Repair...

Toshio discovered a piece of a lens mount wedged into a circuit board when he opened my 1DIII after the rear LCD stopped working.

Toshio asked "Frank, who opened your camera?"

"Toshio, Canon did the recall and you returned it to them and made the technician redo it when you tried to calibrate my 24-70 and 70-200L IS 2.8 and discovered they were perfect and asked me to send the body. You discovered the sensor was misaligned."

Canon has the records and they know exactly who sabotaged my 1DIII.

Toshio is the senior member of a select group of independent technicians that Canon authorized to work on their 1D bodies when Canon technicians could not solve the problem.

Canon's technician is the only person that could have inserted the "lens mount' because he/she is the only person that ever opened the camera.

Toshio pulled rank and the over worked, under paid, disgruntled employee took out his frustration on my camera.

sequence of events is still weird here.

the camera went to canon

came back to you still not working

you took it to the independent guy

how did the now disgruntled Canon employee get it back to sabotage it?

So how exactly did Canon sabotage your camera. Was it the piece of lens mount wedged into the circuit board, or was it the misaligned sensor?

Could you please clarify the actual sequence of events as this story is still very confusing.

Sorry, but I don't see any evidence that:

A.) anything happened in the first place.
B.) whatever may have happened was intentional 'sabotage'.
C.) anyone has any evidence of anything.
D.) Canon has any 'records' showing who intentionally did what.

I see a third party repair request/order and a 1DIII. Nothing else.

Really,Canon techs can't fix their own camera so they send it out to a "independent" repair person.I smell a stinky fish on this one.

If he is canons super star outsource repair guy, why did he give the camera back to you to send in to repair center? Also the invoice is for sensor cleaning. Inflammatory threads with no invoices, no pics, and no statements are misleading at best and unlawful at worst.

1DIII had a major recall and I sent the camera to Canon NJ and upon return my new 24-70L and 70-200L IS 2.8 were not focusing properly and I sent them to Toshio for calibration.

Toshio said my lenses were fine, please send the body.

Toshio discovered the sensor was misaligned and brought the body to Canon to correct their work, as he did not want to charge me for Canon's recent work.

Six years later, last week, me rear LCD stopped working and I sent the camera to Toshio for repair.

Toshio found a 1" piece of lens mount shoved under the circuit board that caused a short and he ask "who had your camera?"

The Canon tech that Toshio made redo his work was the last person to open my camera and the only person angry enough to perpetrate the deed.

It sounds as if sometime over the last 6 years a piece of mount broke off and just recently lodged somewhere bad. I can't imagine someone sabotaging a camera 6 years in the planing.
