This is one of the silliest things I've seen in a long time.

The OP has quite a far reaching imagination.

No one knows how many people over the last 6 years have handled this camera.
No one knows how many lenses were mounted and removed over the last 6 years.
No idea how many lenses were purchased and sold over that time.
No way to inspect the mounting rings of every lense that has been installed.
No way is Canon or Canon service responsible in any way for this with no evidence.
Wild claims like this with inflammatory titles and no proof could open up an individual to legal action.
This thread should be deleted as it serves no benefit to the forum.

LHB - ok I admit I am wrong to terminate the thread! I added a like for you. :)
We could have some fun theorizing the actual cause!!
Someone with great imagination I am sure can show how it happened.

I think a 3 year old tried to install a crop lens. Was there any Lego bits in there? ;)

Ok, everyone. Let's pile on the likes for LHB. At least this thread will have some purpose.

Nope. My grandson has been shooting my SLRs since he was four. Kids have more sense than to do that. My guess is the OP was trying to rig some explosives in his camera so he could photo-bomb someone. A stray piece got caught in the works - six years later.

I take it many of you never frequent FredMiranda? This is par for the course there. It became rather comical there as well.

Here is the equivalent post by Psychic1 (sorry, DragonFire now over on FM): http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1435731 (external link)

My only added point is that it appears the fix was indeed good, because the camera worked well for 6 years before failing. Sometimes duct tape, bubble gum, and even pieces of hardware wedged into certain areas really do fix the issues. :D

Not sure if we are to blame the employee, or praise them for a very economical and recyclable fix?

(oh btw, presumably according to my contacts developed from my old top secret clearance days back in the 90s, Frank is indeed not Dragonfire, even though he thinks he is. All I can surmise is that there is an operative in the EU that issues the intelligence reports that Frank believes is his. I personally would consider it dangerous behavior to post personal info posing as somebody passing info seemingly detrimental to terrorist organizations over to the government on a public forum.)
