I would have expected this to be getting discussed somewhere else, but I can't find it.

So... has anyone had a play with the Facebook 360 pano thingumy yet? I was sceptical when I first heard of it, but now I have to say that I am very impressed. It's probably about the first time I've thought "wow, that's new".

For those who haven't seen it, the idea is that you take a panoramic photo, and certain information about angle of rotation is embedded into the image. When you view the image on a iPad or some such, as you move the iPad so the image moves in synch with you - the iPad acting as a window onto the panoramic image.

I haven't found a way to embed an image in a post or to send a link - just have a look around facebook, I imagine we're going to see lots of them soon enough...

Some of my friends have posted photos from 360 cameras and it seems quite good.

As a test, I tried using the native iPhone 6 pano function, but found it is limited to 240*. FB recognized it though, and you can pan through the photo. I've read there are third party apps for IOS that can do the full 360.

I'm going to try taking a multi row pano with my 5D3 and stitching it in PS or LR and see what FB does with it. They same some software like PTGui embeds the metadata identifying it as a pano. I don't have PTGui, but maybe LR or PS does.
