I'm torn between which body should be next for me.

I love the 6D but I can't stomach paying for a new one again. I don't care about the wifi or gps in it.

I love the full frame aspect and plan on sticking with it.
I was looking at the 5d mk III and I know that would last me years to come.
I really love cameras that have good Dynamic range.
I don't really wanna swap to Nikon.
I was looking into sony a7 series which seem to be amazing.
I've really wanted to shoot medium format but i don't think its in my budget.

I shoot portraits exclusively. I do a fair share of photo walks and wandering but not much action at all.
I shoot weddings everyone once in a while but dont mind renting gear
I only have a tamron24-70 which Im selling and a canon 135mm for portraits which I'm kinda be elling soon as well I believe

I really wanna stay with Canon but I'm wondering when would be a smart time to buy.

They technology has been very lacking on canon's side

I dont mind buying used because if anything ever breaks or gets damaged my insurance replaces them 100% of the brand new cost.

If you were to have around $2500-3000 to buy a new body or body+lens what would you get?
I suppose I have a little more if I sold my used 6D and my tamron 24-70
could maybe toss on another $1400 to the price.

First, you should elaborate on why you think your 6d is slowly dying. It's relevant in this thread as well as to any prospective buyers.

I meant my attraction to it haha
Mines at like 13k shutter count.
I just have used them for the past 4 years since I started and wanted something a little higher quality and better all around

I am not a portrait photographer (wildlife for me!) but perhaps a Canon 5Ds/5DsR should be on your radar? You already have an excellent 135mm, perhaps a nice 50/85mm as well? Or if you like a 24-70 zoom the Canon 24-70 L F2.8 V2 is superb - well mine is!

I looked at these but a little pricey for my liking

Was thinking about the 5D mk iii once the mk iv drops

I like primes and 50mm is next on my list

24-70 is great but it's not super unique like primes can be

The 135 is one of the best, hard to beat. It you want better AF get the 5d3, not sure why you're selling your lenses. Looking for better quality? 24-70ii / 24-70 vr. 135L is the best AF 135 aside from Sony A-mount.

I have both 24-70 ii and 135L on the A7rii, very capable for event/portraits (ibis is really nice).

Hardly ever use it, but a few times a year.

Incredible and enjoyable system. Portrait accuracy is extremely good with any AF lens. Nail that eyeball with high accuracy. Low and High ISO better than any canon I've used. Just a very high level system.

If I had $3000 to replace my current setup for shooting people, I'd buy the exact same thing I already have.

6D $1000
85 1.8 $300
135L $800
200 2.8L II $500

Then why consider selling the 135L? It's probably the best Canon portrait lens for the money. And the 6d is terrific for portraits. It certainly wouldn't hurt to have the better AF of the 5d3, but it's hardly necessary. Add to that the fact that you're considering Sony. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you're having a minor nervous breakdown about gear. ;-)a

It's easy to do with all the talk of a rumored 5d4 around the corner.

As I said I am a wildlife photographer so cameras like the 5DsR look cheap to me and I love the prices of even the very best portrait lenses!
I suggested the 5DsR simply because I have used one and been very impressed with the files and it isn't expensive. Certainly a 5D3 will do a great job but I can't help feeling that I prefer the sensor in the 6D from those that I have tried. The 5D3 is a great all-rounder, but for portraits I don't think it really offers anything over the 6D except lots of AF points - remember I am far from an expert in this field!

Happy hunting.

I'm having a moment with my gear for sure

I love my 135mm and probably wont sell it
the 24-70 is on the way out. I don't like it
probably gonna replace with the 35mm and 50mm art series

Maybe L series depending on my wifes discount

she supposedly gets the same discount Canon employees do

The 50L, not the sharpest, but incredible, great size and light chomping machine. Pairs well with the 135. If you're ok with the 50 art, then get it instead. Tend to shy away from really big lenses.

Changing lenses for ones that better suit your needs, I can understand. But as for the body there is nothing you have mentioned yet that would need a new body, especially a 5DIII. It has higher fps and a better AF system. Great for shooting sport or street or other action - which you don't do.

Oh but there is, Dan.........you just have to read between the lines. It says: "I WANT A NEW CAMERA BODY."

This is simply a GAS thread. That's all.
