I probably have more out of focus shots with my 70-200LII than my 35/1.4 art.

35 became my favorite lens I think.

That's not the case for me, but the 35 Art isn't as bad as some like to say.

haha. sigma sells you the lens and a dock so you can hopefully get the AF to work. can't blame that on canon but nice try :p

I found the 35A to be spot on. I did calibrate it with a dock though. I only traded it to move from the 35/85 to a 24/50 and then only later rebuy the sigma 85 and now just sold the sigma 85 because the ART is suppose to be released later this year and I will buy it. I might as well rebuy the 35 and pickup the 20 and have the whole set.

2 sigma 18-35A's, a 24-105A, and a second hand 85 1.4 and all have been dead on right out of the box. Renting the 35A this weekend and might not give it back if it is like the other Sigmas I have ;)

The first 18-35 was on my 60d and sold both (wish I kept the 18-35 so I wouldn't have had to buy again), the current 18-35 is on my 70d.
24-105A and 85 rotate between 2 6d's.

Did it not get credit at launch for being the sharpest 35mm??? It's not anymore as Canon has released their new one and I think it's thats why the Sigma lost the credit.

I have a friend who has a 30A and it is very consistent on his 6d. It wasn't on my 70D when I borrowed it. I bought a 50A and it wasn't either. Haven't rebought or tried either since I moved to my 7D ii.

it's going to be funny when canon comes out with a dock...:-)

i think the reason the 35 art is sold more, is there is a new better 35LII out...it happens with every lens when something better or equal but cheaper comes out...

Sample and situational variation. I ran into two copies of the 35 Art and 50 Art that performed well when I first shot with them, but as the sun lowered in the sky and I started shooting lower and lower light / candela scenes, they performed less and less reliably. Some people might have better copies and experiences or different standards for autofocus (perhaps comparing them to worse or better lenses?) which doesn't invalidate one or the other's experiences.

Because canon released a new 35L and people wanted the latest and gretest.

I haven't a bad word to say about my 35mm art. I've owned it for near two years and it's razor sharp wide open with no auto focus problems.

Granted it was the third copy I tried and is auto focus adjusted to suit my 5diii but after all that it would be my most used lens. Love the look it gives and use it at f1.4 most of the time

I bought the 50A and passed on the 35. Not because of reported focus issues, I just didn't like the rendering of the 35A or the bokeh. Each example from the 35A that I looked at seemed to have a reddish cast....YMMV. Whereas the 50A did not have the red undertone to my eyes.

When the 35A was released, this lens was considered the best. Since, other 35mm lenses have come out including a new Canon. Sigma just got left behind and lost it's exclusivity. Happens in the photo gear world.

So it gets left behind because it lost its exclusivity? Exaggerate much? It never had exclusivity, but it had--and continues to have--loads of hedgemony in the market due to its price vs performance.
