Hey folks,
My wife and I are taking a hiking trip through wine county in a couple weeks for our 15th anniversary. We are not huge hikers but wanted to do something we wouldn't do with the kids. It's a pretty organized trip beginning in Sausalito and hiking north following various trails from one winery to another, staying at little inns near the wineries each night. Mostly it's an opportunity to spend time just the two of us and drink some wine...and enjoy the outdoors along the way, but nothing terribly rugged.
Aside from one work conference in San Francisco, I've never been in this region so am looking for any overall tips or suggestions on things of interest to look for while we are there. Also any advice on gear to take along would be appreciated.
From a photo perspective, I plan to take my 7Dii, Tokina 11-16, Canon 15-85, and my 55-250 (mostly because it's light and doesn't take up much room). I have a travel tripod to take along and a few filters, spare cards and batteries, etc. My wife will carry her G16. I'm interested mostly in photographing the landscapes and plant life along the way with a few ''we were there" portraits thrown in. Any thing else in particular I'm missing? Would it be worthwhile bringing along my 7D body as a back up? Flash? Or would the pop-up suffice in the few occasions I would likely use one?
A pic of the two of us from last month, Memorial Day weekend, when we visited Chicago.
I appreciate any suggestions. Just excited to spend some time with my bride of 15 years (together for 20 years).
