I've been wanting to get into drone photography for a few months now. Obviously the learning curve is steep, so I thought I'd start a dedicated thread for current and potential drone photographers to share their knowledge, tips, photos, videos, etc.

I wouldn't call it a steep learning curve at all. I watched a 5 minute video on youtube on how to control it, and that is it. Drones are incredibly easy to use.

If you can play a video game you can fly a drone within minutes. If you suck at making those pixels jump on the TV screen it might take a little more practice before sending the drone through the forest. DJI has a simulator program to help get one started. And the Phantom 4 is an excellent beginner's drone. If I wasn't using the Phantom 4 there are two occasions where I would have lost mine from running into unseen tree limbs above waterfalls.

About 300 feet above the glacier-formed Lake Willoughby in Vermont

First time flying the drone I took this panorama from my back yard

Third time out with the drone....did some ballsy stuff with it shooting waterfalls: https://youtu.be/Qgn08Io7jrM (external link)
