These shots are in Timbavati, a private reserve that's part of the Greater Kruger. Great area for cats and I love the off road tracking. I'm taking a group there again in 2017 (in combination with time at Sabi Sands).

One more of the Jacaranda pride. I'm currently reading Chris McBrides' "White Lions of Timbavati", which is giving me a lot of history of that region back in the mid-70's and it's getting me to look back at my Timbavati images. Back in the mid-70's their were no guest lodges, of course they shot film and the animals were so unaccustomed to vehicles that McBride actually built a cage around his 4x4 so he would be safe while observing the cats. Heck, just in 2005 I could hardly shoot over ISO 640 on images in the bush. It makes me appreciate what a golden time for seeing and photographing nature we have right now.
