What do you charge for commercial shots? Image or per shoot?

Say for a model with a hardback or an outfit modeling. Do you charge per image or shoot?

If you're working with "big" clients who understand how the system works, it's creative fee + expenses + usage license.

If you're working with small-time clients and mom-n-pop shops, that kind of pricing structure may be too complex for them, so figure out a rate that covers your CODB and desired profit, and quote a flat fee for the expected number of images.

Yes. X hours shooting, X number of finished images.

You'll still want to have a usage contract in easy-to-read language, so they know what they can and can't do with the images - for instance, they're not allowed to give your images away to someone else.
