I was scratching my head trying to work out what to shoot for this weeks challenge then it dawned on me that I'm going away for a 4 day trip on Friday to the north of Scotland in a VW camper van with my wife. If I can't get a transportation themed photo from that I need to give it up!

(In related news I'm praying for some Clear skys. It's a new moon on Saturday and the aurora has been seen on the isle of Harris where I'm headed the last few nights. Bucket list item for me so here's hoping)

^ That sounds like an awesome trip Eddie. Do you follow Daniel Kordan on instagram? He posted some recent aurora shots that looked amazing.

Have a great time, Eddie. There was an aurora forecast for last night but, of course, it was cloudy. The weather forecast for the weekend is good and you never know when they will appear. Are you on the email notification list from Lancaster Uni?

Thanks Annie, I thought I had added my email but I don't get alerts so just check it manually from time to time, I'll try and add it again. I found a Facebook page yesterday called aurora watch Harris or something like that and there were photos of bright auroras from the last two nights. I'm really hoping I see something when I'm there. Going to Skye then Harris, then uist and then home via Skye again. Can't wait!

Fantastic trip by the sound of it. I was on Skye on Sunday and got blown off Garbh-bheinn (photo on the 6D thread)! I think the weekend should be great though. Are you going to Elgol and/or up a Cuillin? Harris beaches are magnificent.

Sorry here's the link this time https://m.facebook.com …sternIsles/?locale2=en_GB (external link)

At the very least I'm hoping for a clear sky for Milky Way photos as light pollution will be minimal and it's a new moon.

The rough plan just now is sunset at Eilan donan castle then head up to neist point lighthouse and stay the night there in the camper. Then try and catch a sunrise there before heading to uig for the morning ferry to Harris so just passing through Skye this time really. Spend the day and night on Harris (staying at the standing stones) and then ferry the next day to berneray. Explore there and uist and probably stay on berneray then following day ferry back to uig and home

Eddie I don't know how you could get a bad shot on that trip! Color me jealous. Castles and Milky Way=a wow combination!

Thanks MM. The beaches on the islands of Scotland look like tropical paradises in photos, the water is Baltic though :D

Sorry for derailing the thread everyone but as you can probably tell I'm a bit excited

I'm excited with you. I've never seen your part of the planet but what images I've seen are enticing to say the least. Poof has toured Ireland and wants to
go back someday for Scotland.
