Nice theme for the week. Time to dust off my macro lens. I've also debated selling it because I don't use it often but I'm not sure yet.

it's always nice having a cheap macro around, got my beater for $60, it's sharp and does 1:1.

Mantis at the gate

I found this Preying Mantis at my gate this morning. It had a spider web stuck to its hind quarters which my neighbor was able to remove before taking it to his garden.

One of if not the best mantid shot I've ever seen Gene. Just fabulous!

Thanks very much MM. Even though the background isn't very scenic, I thought it helped give a sense of scale to the image.

I don't own a Macro lens...yet...so I had to make due with what I have, the 24-70 has a MFD of 6"...so that is as close as I could get...I thought about cropping it, but liked it as is...my daughter collects all the acorns in the yard, and the morning sun was hitting the pile on the front steps just right...
I call it...

Great shots everyone, enjoyed them all. It was a close call as there's some really creative stuff this week but the one I seemed to like the most is Alfredos dragon fly.
