Yeah. Street photography in the suburbs is dull. Most likely, an empty street with a couple of parked cars. :)

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

I might just take a photo of my street so I have something to post :)

I am there too...my little outing to our downtown was boring...ugly light...no people...its a cool windy autumn day here today..

Man I packed my camera y'day and was going to do some street shooting on my lunch break but the CEO of the company bought us all lunch so we ended up staying in. I'm going to try it Monday whether or not I make the deadline

Deadline is Sunday night?

My home town (West Point, GA). Not "unaware subjects" but West Point is too small to get away with shots of unaware people - even on a Saturday night everyone sees the guy with the camera. These handsome guys were very pleasant and posed for me.

Regardless of whether this definition of street photography applies to this week's thread or not, I do like Eric Kim's thoughts (external link) on the subject. He writes:

I think in street photography there are now lots of sub-gernres as well. I feel that we have candid street photography (what I might classify as “classic street photography”- think Henri Cartier-Bresson), street portraits (focused mostly on portraits of people on the street, instead of the environment– either with or without permission like Diane Arbus or Bruce Gilden), urban landscapes with or without people in them (think Stephen Shore, Lee Friedlander, Joel Sternfeld, etc), still life street photography (think Martin Parr or William Eggleston), or socio-documentary street photography (think Bruce Davidson).

A hobby where I'm continually trying (emphasize trying) to learn.
Your quote 'I think in street photography there are now lots of sub-gernres as well. I feel that we have candid street photography (what I might classify as “classic street photography”- think Henri Cartier-Bresson), street portraits (focused mostly on portraits of people on the street, instead of the environment– either with or without permission like Diane Arbus or Bruce Gilden), urban landscapes with or without people in them (think Stephen Shore, Lee Friedlander, Joel Sternfeld, etc), still life street photography (think Martin Parr or William Eggleston), or socio-documentary street photography (think Bruce Davidson).'
is a big part of that learning process.
Though I didn't feel comfortable doing the street photography I did (the old man and the woman pushing the cart) I've since wanted to go back and try again.

If you don't get enough entries, we should push it another week. It's called a weekly challenge because it not supposed to be easy.

Well so far only D.Arbogast's are in, makes it really easy for me to pick a winner !!
I think we should move on. No one liked street photography.

Just to let all entrants know I'm in the hospital until 0800, will sleep, judge the entries and have a result around 3pm.
Hope that's ok with all.

Same here. I took a stab at it. Didn't like the outcome.
