Photography at auto auctions...question

There is an auto auction for collectible cars in my area. I've never been to one, and wonder what photography as a hobbyist would
be like at the auction. I'm guessing that during the auction spectators would be seated in the stands, making photography limited.
But there is also a preview day. Perhaps that would be the best day to attend.

What has your experience been like? Here's the auction I had in mind...

Guessing, but I would tend to agree. And most auctions are indoors, because think of the $s they'd lose if it rained?
Plus, if you went on the preview day & it didn't work out, you'd still have the auction day to work with.
