Challenge #592, Metal

Metal is everywhere. Let's see an image that features it.

Remember, if you post a photo, you may be the winner. Be prepared to host and judge a new challenge.

To submit, click POST TO THREAD and put your photo title in the first line of the post. Don't forget your camera model.

Post until Monday noon GMT, 4 July 2016.

_______________

Thanks to all who provided something interesting and metallic. Now for the details:

JimAskew, Oil Cans: An engaging image, gleaned from something that wouldn't get a second glance from most passers-by. I like the diagonal composition and the suggestion of the passage of time; these objects have accumulated over a period, there's a history here.

M_Six, Tunnel: The angles and reflections make this a dramatic shot with a futuristic feel. (Was anything outdoors really that clean?) We might be inside a spacecraft. The scene manages to imply speed even though nothing in the picture is moving.

Raven, Rusty Longhorn: Rusty and rustic! Lots of local color and a strong sense of place. I lived near cattle country when younger, and I remember how proud the ranchers were of their chosen breeds. The sculpture might be almost an ad for the product.

teekay, BRASS: An imaginative way to combine several metals. I like the warm, quiet color scheme. I would have preferred a little greater DoF for more clarity on the spilled coins.

RESULTS

#1: JimAskew, Oil Cans
#2: M_Six, Tunnel
#3: teekay, BRASS

Congrats to the winners. Interesting blend of images. I had no handy images of metals. On Friday, I drove to an old rusty tractor, only to realize that I had left my G11 home :-(

Kudos, Jim. Nice collection and great shot.

My tunnel shot is of a pedestrian underpass along the Chicago River.

Great contest OhLook! Congratulations to 2nd Place M_Six, for the great Tunnel photo and to 3rd Place to teekay for the clever BRASS photo. Raven's Rusty Bull photo was a winner as well :-) I am honored to be selected for the 1st Place position.

My photo was made at an antique fair in Atlanta, GA that I visited this spring. The collection of rusty oil cans caught my eye as soon as I came upon it :-)

Congratulations to Jim and M_Six! I also liked Raven's rusty beast, and too late realized we have some metal sculptures in our town that I might have tried.

Congrats all. Nice examples of metal!
And thanks, OhLook, for a fun contest this week.

I was much busier this week than I had planned on so I dug the longhorn up from the archives.
I thought the artist did a pretty nice job on this guy.
