Last night I went to the Lake to get some pics of the sunset. That didn't materialize like I thought it would so I shot some pics of the pier with the flashing beacon from the Lighthouse. The red light is too bright . It was dusk. Regardless of what camera settings I tried the red is blown out
Any tips on how to shoot this ?
TIA

Sounds like your going to have to use two exposures and blend them together in CS.
Bracketing your exposures may simplify the procedure.

Good luck.

Yup, two exposures. Cameras (all right now) just don't have enough dynamic range to be able to handle such a great range. Shoot once to expose for the light, shoot again to expose for everything else and blend in PS

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Try shooting earlier in the day, when the ambient light is a little brighter.
