it's an optical lens that behaves like digital zoom.

Moon shots...... I could fill the frame with the moon (1300mm + little cropping), and even with perfect technique, a good 400mm lens will resolve more. If you've got a 400mm lens, just crop and you'll get better IQ.

Just put a red pinstripe around the front element and you're good to go.

The same filth just showed up in my Facebook news feed. I reported the post for vulgarity.

Think how much you could resell that bad boy for if you just painted a thin red band around the fat end.

I've been kicking around the idea of getting one and playing around with it for the summer just for kicks 'n grins, to see just how bad those are.

...then for shits 'n giggles you should try the gummie bears references in the other post's link

I have actually used one and surprisingly, it does actually work. The IQ is about on par with a spotting scope, the lens is a bit flimsy, and it takes quite a bit of skill to get a decent image, but it gets you to 1200mm+ for way less than 10k (or $120k); :):)

For those interested, there is a Flickr group (external link) with lots of image samples. If you got $200 and like to take moon images or just play around, it's a very cheap way to do so.

Interesting flickr group. There are actually a very large number of pin sharp photos....bowling pin sharp.

I'd use a red elastic band

For 200$ it would make a neat toy for someone who doesn't own a supertelephoto lens.

Looks like some of the more skilled Togs were able to get a HALF way decent shot, with emphasizes on HALF... lol
