I bought a Canon 5Dii which has a shtter count of only 6500. This camera will sure turn heads in a church when doing a wedding shoot. Not due to its looks, but the VERY loud and noisy shutter. More of a "ka-klank" sound than a click. Compared to Nikon this camera is bad for being silent. Dies anyone else experience the same with their 5D?

It is pretty substantial. The only way to get a silent mode on the 5DII is through live view (but the mirror is still pretty loud going into and out of live view).

The silent drive mode on the 5DIII is definitely welcome for churches and similar situations.

Not a malfunction I'm afraid, the 5D2 was the first "real" camera I've owned, and the shutter sound drove that point in well.
It's not the loudest camera I've owned since then, but for avenues where silence is key, you really need to look into cameras where appropriate features are provisioned.
APS-C cameras are naturally quieter than ones with larger sensors (and thus mirrors/shutters) if you want to stick with SLRs, or go with a mirrorless camera where there is no mirror to flap about, and many also feature a fully electronic shutter for zero sound. As mentioned, live-view is quiet on any camera, but is generally clunky to use on SLRs.
Lastly is the old-fashioned approach - if you don't want to sacrifice performance for sound - and that is getting a sound blimp, which is a cover for your camera that dampens the sound by isolating it from everything else. Unfortunately, one of these may cost as much as your used 5D2 itself, and are probably most appropriate if you own something like a 1DX or similar.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

Yes, compared to my 7D2 or my 5D3 in silent mode.. it definitely is a loud shutter.

The other two are peaches and dandy! Loved them at the wedding the other day.

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

It is loud but I kind of enjoy the sound, it is authoritative. Not the best for being inconspicuous in a quiet church though.
Shooting from live view helps but as pointed out earlier you still have the fairly loud sound of the mirror moving out of the way no matter how you approach it.

It might be worth seeing when the camera was made too. Sounds odd but I recently started using one of the last 5Dii to be made and it sounded dreadful. I checked into the noise and found various references to the newer versions having a less mechanical sounding shutter.
