My neighbor who raises horses has two of these guys and if they see something strange they utter a series of ear piercing screams that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

I have a bunch of them, and they will let you know if a strange animal or person is around at night.

There were lots of "farmers" in the Santa Cruz mountains back in the 60's and 70's that used them as guards. Beauty of a bird :)

Geese are very good too, my neighbour uses them to good effect.

Had a peacock as a watchdog for several years. Aside from alerting us to intruders he supplied us with fly-tying material and cleaned the bugs off our car bumpers. :-D

When I was growing up here in Pa on our farm we had Guinea Hens and nobody could sneak up on them. They raised cain every time someone came around.
In fact it now seems the dirtballs doing the Meth labs back in the sticks here are using them for watchdogs.
