The only lens thats been mentioned here thats not a rumor is the venus 12mm...this thread probably could move to he rumor section as well

Seeing as how the 12/2.8 isn't even listed on their website, I would consider that one a rumor too.

EF 50mm F/1.4 II

A 50 mm 1.2 IS that didn't suffer from focus shift is the dream for me.

Also a 85L III.

Looking for the 24-105 II to come out. I am debating adding the current version of this lens, but I may want to hold out to see how the new one performs--if it comes out any time soon.

well the 24-105L II will make the 24-70 f4 IS even less popular
I wonder what Canon was thinking when they released that lens.
I know the fans would mention it's "macro" ability but it's totally not a true macro lens and at 70mm the working distance is rather short and waay too short for moving objects like insects

The 24-70 has much less distortion, is slightly sharper at all focal lengths in corners, is 2oz lighter, is also 1/2" shorter and DOES include a .7 macro capability (albiet short working distance). The IS on the 24-70 is a 4 stop hybrid to correct for camera angle like the 100L where the 24-105L has a 3 stop IS.

So it's an overall better lens... an improvement over the 24-105 in all aspects of everything except for 71-105mm.

However... how do we not know this was Canons way to offer variety but also provide a stepping path to betting the 24-105 and having it's features in the new 24-105II...

Just how I see it at least.

ANY update to the upper-end 50mm primes! Ideally a 50mm 1.2 replacement!

Unless Canon decides to charge significantly more than the original 24-105L I don't really see why anyone would choose the 24-70L f4 IS over the new 24-105L II

charge significantly more than the actual retail price of the lens?($1,000)...i don't know how much the new lens will be...but i'd expect it to be more than that...what was the 24-70f4IS introduced at? like $1,600 or something i think...they're saying the new 5DIV package with the new 24-105L will be more than the 24-70f4 IS

so say it's $1300...and the 24-70f4 is now at $900...i could see some people opting for the shorter lens

edit: i looked it up the 24-70 came out at $1500
