I'm only selling this because I'm shooting a 500 f/4 now. But besides the focal length and f-stop differences, this lens is 95% of my 500 for less than a quarter of the price. Really a stellar performer for an entry into the world of Prime Telephotos.

Man, it seems folks aren't doing any birding or sports for that matter. I see these awesome lenses at great prices and still no buyers. I have this lens and it is one of the best, as good as my 300mm f2.8 IS I in AF speed and picture quality. Best lens for birds in flight shots.

Agreed. I have a 500, f/4 and this 400 in both optically and autofocus speed is 95% of the 500 for far less money. Like I said in the original listing, it's an awesome entry into the world of super telephotos.

One of the sharpest lens and me too have this. I have both the 500mm and this. Goodluck.

I have the 400 5.6 as well and absolutely love it for birding. I'm thinking that the new version of the 100-400 has taken over because it is more versatile, but at a cost of course. I was kind of out of photography for a couple years and was stunned when I came back in and saw that a number of lenses had dropped in price. I paid 1,100.00 for mine, used, several years ago.

Anyway, here is a bump for a great lens.

Thanks Chris! Believe it or not (I don't!), lens is still available. An awesome entry into the world of super telephoto at an awesome price. A 100-400 is no comparison as far as IQ and focus accuracy and speed.
