The same two I've been using for a long time...The one is a 24" Dell IPS monitor and the other is a Samsung IPS monitor, 21"

so you are going to SLI two GTX 960 2GB?
Is it going to be faster than one GTX 970 or 980?

I have the 970 mostly for gaming but it seems to also have sped up the processing of raw files and pano-stitching

Nope, no SLI. I'll wait a bit and then upgrade it to the 1060GTX when prices drop a bit. I'm putting in a second SSD @480GB to install programs/games where the mechanical HDD will be for images/docs only.

My current machine only has a 650GT in it so the 960 is a major step up and I do a bit of gaming as well.

If the GTX 1060 comes out as they hyped it up, it could be hitting GTX 980 marks. The GTX 980 Ti is selling from Newegg for $370 right now. So if a GTX 1060 is overpriced for what it is, like the 1070 is being overpriced, maybe spending a bit more for a year dated 980 Ti could also be a possibility so you get a good performance for the dollar.

or upgrade to a GTX 1070 and get a 4K monitor :D I've heard the 1070 is faster than the TitanX
The difference between the 960 and 970 is fairly big and it will probably be the same for the new cards

I agree w/ the above comments about video. While LR and PS both use GPU acceleration, at the moment of funds available my first upgrade will be the second SSD and them most likely another 32GB of RAM. As mentioned, the GPU I'm getting in the machine is a step up from what my current machine runs and it runs most games fairly well. I will eventually upgrade the GPU, just that it will be last.

Thanks for the input.

I'm looking at essentially the same machine, except with the base 16GB RAM. It's available from Dell direct at £899, which is £749.17 before out 20% VAT (sales tax) is added. Using the current exchange rate of £1 to $1.29 (from Google) that would only be $966.43 in a like for like comparison. That seems like quite a premium for adding the extra RAM and the extended warranty. I'm sure you could build a slightly better system yourself, for the same money. Personally I can get 10% off the system, and 20% off a Dell monitor, I'm planning on the 27" 5K monitor, using my Armed Forces Veterans discounts. The advantage is that by buying a full system it should just work.

hmm I remember seeing Apple charging some 200 bucks for extra 8 gig of ram so maybe Dell is doing the same?
You can easily add RAM memory yourself and it would only cost you around 30 usd for 8gig

If general consumers are too lazy to learn how to order with a simple tool (crucial.com) and then push in a stick of RAM onto a powered down PC, then maybe they deserve to get charged 200 bucks to pay Dell's employee salary.

No offence intended RPCrowe

I wouldn't call it lazy. Perhaps just trepidatious.

I don't know if it's because I grew up with computers, but I feel it's really easy to build one. As long as you have all parts that are compatible (don't buy an AMD mobo and Intel CPU), you just plug everything in and Bob's your uncle.

That's a better way of putting it. Although I wouldn't say that about anyone here in this subforum, they are actively looking to resolving a problem rather than blindly throwing money at something to making it work.
