I have a Tamron 28-75 XR Di 2.8 lens that gives an Err 01 when I attach it to the camera.

Is it worth sending into repair at this point? I have had for a long time just sitting around.

I believe ERR 01 is a communication error. It takes two to communicate. The camera may be as much at fault as the lens. Clean the contacts on both.

What he said.

I got that error Friday. I bumped the lens release mounting a flash and moved the lens a little. Unmounting and remounting fixed it.

If cleaning thee contacts doesn't work, then you have to decide whether you want to fix the internal issue. More than likely you'll find that cleaning them fixes it.

I should have mentioned it happens on two different cameras and I have tried cleaning the contacts.

In that case, I wouldn't fix it. The 28-75 is an inexpensive mediocre lens. At the wide end, my copy needed f/4 to be use-ably sharp. At the long end, it was pretty good wide open, but I am starting to want IS at that focal length. Upgrade time!

OK, I have other lenses that I actually use. I came across this one when I was cleaning out the closet.

For me it would only be worth repairing if the repair costs would be significantly less than it's resale value which it sounds like they wouldn't.

Thanks for the advice!
