Got my first one tomorrow. Read the sticky up top twice and thinking through the location and what it could offer.

I'm also thinking about what gear I want to bring. I have a D5 and D750, both of which will be going. Got 3 Cheetah 860Ns and X1 transmitter, one of each will go along with my CL-360. My lenses are where I'm struggling. I currently have a Sigma 35 1.4 and 85 1.4, Nikon 24-70 and 70-200. I was thinking I would take the 35 and 70-200, but thinking the 85 might get missed.

What would you take lens wise?

I wish Nikon would make an updated 135 and then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Why do you need to choose?

I don't do many engagement sessions, and when I do they're more about people being more comfortable in front of the camera. For that I use a 24-70. If you're doing it more like a wedding portrait shoot then take whatever you use for one of those.

a 35/85/135 will cover all your bases and give you plenty of options. you dont need to use them all.

35/50/85 is all I take, but I'd be fine with just the 50

35 and 85.

Personally I like to be able to talk to and laugh with the couple during an engagement session and those lenses allow me to direct and communicate without having to yell.

I take my 70-200 2.8 IS II first and foremost. Some primes depending on the area, time and how much I want to carry.

35/85 for days, but honestly I would take whatever you are most comfortable shooting. Connecting with the couple and making them feel relaxed (which happens when you are relaxed!) is way more important than the lens.

I take the 17 to 40 so I can get a sense of the environment and the 70 to 200 for compression. Lights I try to go light. Godox 360 and the Godox 685.
