Picked up a new Sigma 150-600 and realized that I can't hold very steady to save my life. Want to grab a monopod that is sturdy enough to carry my lens around attached to a 1Dx.

Looking at the Benro MMA38C and the Induro CLM304L and they both appear to be the same monopod with the exception of the foot. One has a rubber foot and the other a threaded screw in foot. induro has a 10 year warranty where Benro looks like a 5 year warranty. Price difference is $40. ($120 vs $160) I'm trying to figure out if there is really any reason to go with the more expensive Induro?

Also looking at the Induro GIM304L but can't figure out what the difference is between the normal (CLM304L) and grand series (GIM304L). Both carry the same load and have the same head size. Only difference as far as I can tell is that the lower leg section on the grand series looks to be 32mm while the other is 28mm.

Anyone have one of these models and can offer up some knowledge?

I've read that Benro and Induro are the same company on many websites.

Heya,

Yeap, Indura/Benro are the same legs basically. The model numbers will vary. I have the Benro version monopod in Aluminum and I love it. It handles my 150-600 no problem with any of my cameras. I get down to 1/25s between the VC and the monopod stability. I also use it for long sessions where I'm pointing at the sky and no matter the weight, you will tire out. The monopod helps there a ton.

Mine only goes to like 5 feet. Which is totally good for level and lower perspectives, but for looking into the sky often, I would want one closer to 6+ feet honestly. I may have to get a 2nd one that is taller.

Well I have read that a lot of people here keep recommending Sirui products. I hit up a camera shop at lunch that carried the brand. Checked out the P424 monopod and I'm sold. The thing is beefy as heck and I don't think I'll have any concerns tossing it over my shoulder. Not sure if the Benro or Induro match up the same but the Sirui looks like a very solid unit.

Yes, the same company owns both. The products however do not tend to be identical, (though some may be?)

Induro is supposed to be the slightly higher end for legs. Benro can get you flip locks, Induro are all twist, Induro has the "Grand" series which are 100% compatible with Gitzo "Systematic" components, (I think Benro has these now too) etc..

As for Sirui, I've not used the legs yet, but the heads are IMHO best bang for buck.

And I am totally sold on Induro CF legs as the "Gitzo killer"

I have the P424S and it's one fine monopod.

I also have several Sirui Tripods, and they are excellent.

Never owned benro/induro never seen any products that caught my intresse enough, mostly because i'v had tripods that i was happy with.
