Where do you find these people :)

You're discounting the possibility that they might seek out and find Gary. ;-)a

In this particular case, Brick Lane in London. The same place I found the hippie singer/guitarist and lots of other weird and colourful characters over the last several years. They all come out to play on Sundays, so if you ever visit London, that's the day to go there.

In case anyone is interested, I first attempted this "over in the corner" style when photographing the people who used to hang around outside the London Fashion Week events, the wannabe models. Although I had no pretensions of being a fashion photographer, I was looking for a different way of presenting these people that might make it look as if they'd succeeded in attaining their dream. Kind of an offhand, casual breaking of the rules in order to be and look different, as these people were doing. My favourite example is below. There's more in the Flickr album.

An impression: the subject in your posted example looks as if she had not succeeded. I get this from the marginal placement and her facial expression and posture.

OK, thanks for that. But remember that she's hanging around outside fashion shows all dressed up, and she's got a group of photographers aiming their cameras at her (probably should have mentioned that), so she's doing her 'model's pose'.

I see. Reinterpreting, then: she was perhaps aiming for dreamy and it came out morose.

Thank you for the information. I thought the same as OhLook about her expression. However, I like your photography.

Unfortunately, since Covid opportunities to take photos outside LFW seem to have dried up. Otherwise, I'd ask them to be less ose. ;-)a

EDIT By the way, I think of this 'look' on models as being the post-cocaine look.
