Hi all,

I have been looking for an affordable fisheye for a while now. The canon 8-15 is out of my price range. Right now I'm debating between the canon 15mm f/2.8 and the samyang 12mm f/2.8. I do have an opportunity to pick up the 15mm for under $400. That said i'm in no hurry to buy the lens immediately and can wait for the next time the 12mm goes on sale (i missed the anazon prime day sale).

So, is the supposedly better IQ of the 12 mm sufficient enough reason for me to hold out?

Thanks a lot

Heya,

The Samyang fisheye is excellent, can't go wrong with. Ultrawides/Fisheye really do not need AF at all, everything is in focus at that angle even at F2.8 from a few feet to infinity. And absolutely everything at F4. I wouldn't even get the Canon 15mm since it's not better and you're just getting AF as a real world difference, yet don't even need it.

Very best,

I have the Sigma 15mm and the Rokinon 12mm FE lenses. I prefer the Rok. Both are excellent.

Thank you very much for the quick responses. I'll wait for the 12mm

Look at the example thread. Amazing lens. Manual focus, you know.

The pics look great. I don't think i'll have any problems with this lens being manual.

Thanks
