Amazing details in these caterpillars.
Beautiful colours.
I expect each would be unique in their distinctive markings

Last year I bought a kit so I could raise some Swallowtail Butterflies (Papilio machaon). The critter was so cooperative that I am still editing images from a single photo session. Image taken in Bacoli, Italy in May of 2020.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (set to around 3x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Sharpen AI and Clarity in that order.

Well worn Monarch. Probably won't make it to Mexico.

Nice picture but hate to tell you, it's not a monarch. Viceroy, recognized by the black line across the rear wings.

Yeah, just been seeing so many Monarchs migrating through, I didn’t pay much attention.
