Went to the Illiana Antique Power show last Saturday July 16, 2016 and have several images. I know of two things that can improve the images, but was looking for other ideas. Yes, getting the machine off the trailer would be a massive improvement, but they were so tightly packed together, that would be very hard. Also with several small kids running around, the machines on the ground could become a very hazardous situation. This weekend there is a very similar show in Will County Illinois, so would love to here some feedback to try then.

The first one that I would expect is a smaller depth of field to remove the background better. Don't have a very wide angle lens with small aperture. The smallest is 50mm at f1.8. Most of these were taken with a 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 lens around the 24mm length. Also, I do not want any of the machine out of focus and I have a hard time viewing the back screen even with a Hoodman Loupe.

This one might be harder to say this would make the picture better.

These look OK.
Any type of "show" is tough to shoot. Try getting there very early & stay late to avoid the packed parking, crowds & "noon light".

Also, I do not want any of the machine out of focus

Personally, I would have taken some close-ups if I couldn't get the wider shots that I wanted. And...

what Frank said^

I think the first image is the best, any sort of "show" environment is going to to have a lot of distractions in the background so it is tough to get a good, wide shot. Also, very hard to blur the background at 24mm ;)

stick to detail shots at shows, especially with subjects like you have above, plenty of interesting details to capture up close.
