I would like to get a Nikon 300mm 2.8 for night football.

New is not a consideration.
I know they have AF, AF-I, and AF-S ... with AF-S being the newest and best.

AF being the old type ... auto focus from camera motor.

I have a Nikon D750 and D7200.

Interested in advice from anyone who has used the older AF lens for sports.

Would it even be usable with the D750 or D7200 for night time sports ?

Any and all advice appreciated.
