Strange PM behavior?

I guess a member had posted a heads up about me, which was then promptly removed. I had never done any deals with this individual so I was unsure what he/she was upset with. I sent this PM to get more info person to person. It shows they read it, however when I click on the PM I sent out, it says I deleted the reply? I never saw a reply? What happened to the reply and why does the system think I deleted it?

I am going to make the assumption that the member went to their PM screen, and either through the inbox or outbox, selected their reply to me and deleted it? I presume that gives members the ability to retract a reply, and then it shows deleted to me? I can understand that I guess, but why wouldn't it show deleted by the sender, and not by me?

This is a bit scary to me.

If someone writes something to me, I want to be sure to be able to see it, period.

If someone is a hot head, and writes something to me in anger, I don't want them to be able to delete it, because then I will not be able to learn the true nature of that person. I think that once someone says or writes something, they should forever be held accountable for what they have said. The ability for someone to delete their reply before I see it would undermine this accountability.

There is the ability to "unsend" a PM if it has not been read.
Even email has this option now (some anyway)

IMHO, this is a good thing, offering someone the opportunity to think twice and cool down if they replied hastily.

Yes, of course, I did not mean to gloss over the actual issue! (honestly though I had typed something on about that problem)

Right. If someone sends a PM to me, and then deletes it before I read it, I at least want to know that this happened, and the name of the member who sent me the PM. That way I can contact them and ask "what is it you had written me about", and "why did you delete it". I don't drop things or just let things go. I like to track down and confirm everything that happens, whether it be a tiny little thing or a huge important thing.
