I hope you/they are right. Then CR will finally have a better than 0/Everything record.

Apologies, but the 5D4 doesn't excite me. Partly because it doesn't quite exist yet. Partly because the 5D3 didn't quite entice me. Mostly because I am very satisfied with my 6D/1DIV setup.

To all of you looking forward to the 5D4, I can't wait to hear your comments about it. I am especially interested in which features pushed you to move from 5D3 to 5D4. Just for reference, I got my 6D for IQ, and the 1DIV for killer Servo-AF.

It doesn't excite me all that much either, but for the opposite reason. I've owned and used a lot of cameras from Canon.....XT, 30D, 5D, 1D3, 1D4, 5D3. The 5D3 has been the best of them, and it really does everything for me that I want.

I've reached the point where I see sensor improvements as generally just incremental these days and I rarely feel limited by either the performance specs or the IQ of my 5D3. I guess I'll watch and see but I suspect I will just keep shooting my 5D3 for a couple years before I pick off a much reduced price 5D4. For sure I would not pay the early adopter fee.

Part of it is that (especially of late) I see much hyped sensor differences as being really hard to detect in actual use.

1) People told me the 1D4 was a huge step up from the 1D3 in IQ, especially at high ISO. It isn't. I was duped for a while because I got a new version of LR when I got my 1D4 and I mistook a better RAW conversion engine for sensor improvement. But really the 1D4 is a very small improvement in IQ.

2) People have gone on and on about the DR improvements of the Sony sensor in Nikon and Sony bodies. So I borrowed one from a friend and used it for a while. For what and how I shoot, I didn't see a huge advantage.

I guess I just feel I've been at this long enough that my limitations are usually either with me, the light, the subject or the time I can afford to spend. It isn't the gear.....at least not when you have the stuff I have.

I got a 5D not long before the 5D2 came out. Video doesn't interest me and the AF wasn't improved, so I skipped it. I got a nearly NIB 5D3 at a significant discount about 18 months after it launched. I'll probably do the same for the 5D4. As much as I'd love to afford the early adopter penalty, I just can't do it. As an amateur on a budget, I can afford to be patient.

Based purely on the wild speculation from the links above: 9fps would be a big pull for me (especially if it's accompanied by a larger buffer for longer bursts). Whilst I wouldn't want to move to a 1D body, I "get" the point people make about the huge frame rate - that in a burst you have more chance of getting "the" shot with a higher frame rate. Certainly I've found the 5D3 to be a bit lacking in this regard.

The rumoured 30MP would be nice - that bit more for cropping (especially with Canon's recent excellent glass) and obviously for large prints (though I don't tend to do the latter). I assume we can also hope for the same low ISO DR improvements we've seen on the 80D and 1DxII, so... 9fps, 30MP and more DR would be enough for me to kill my wallet :-). From my point of view that would cover the main areas where I think the 5D3 is weak (well, that and the performance problem with writing to both cards, but I assume that will be fixed, or irrelevant if they move to CF + CFast).

I have both cameras for the same reason. It will be interesting if the 5D4 combines features of both.
As far as AF performance, I wonder how close the 5D4 will come to the 1DXII.

If the 5D4 doesn't surpass the 6D (which is better than the 5D3, but not by that much) then that would be a bit disappointing, given the age of the 6D.

Because of the low ISO DR and noise character improvements seen in the mid-range 80D (and obviously in the 1Dx II), there's at least some evidence to hope the 5D4 sensor will be better.

As for AF; the 5D3 was probably as close to the 1Dx as anyone could have possibly hoped. With the 7D2 now on the scene, and the fact that even the 80D has AF down to -3EV (and 27 AF points at f/8), and the 5Ds (and 7D2) having iTR, it's hard to see where they can leave out that much from the 1Dx II without making the 5D4 AF seem no better than the 5D3. I'm hoping for the 1Dx II AF points and spread, and iTR (and illuminated points in Servo mode). I'd understand if they left out f/8 AF on all points, but obviously with the 80D having 27 such points they've not left themselves much room. I consider all this to be reasons to be hopeful for the 5D4 AF system!

We’re told that the body only will likely come in less than what the EOS 5D Mark III launched at, which was $3499. We’re told the EOS 5D Mark IV would come in at $3299 USD. As always with pricing, it could be old information and things may have moved a bit due to currency fluctuations. While we’d love to see a $2999 price point, we don’t think that’s likely with the information we have.
The EOS 5D Mark IV will come in two kits, one with the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS and the other with the brand new EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II. The EF 24-70mm f/4L IS kit will be the lower priced option between the two lens options.

Went through agony deliberating last year whether to upgrade from my 6D to the mkIII or wait for the MKIV, in the end I decided I was missing too many shots with the 6D's weaker AF, and went for it. Looking at the specs now, there's nothing there that excites me that much, and I got some great shots this year that the 6D wouldn't have got, so I'm very happy I upgraded when I did.

30MP would be nice. Not sure how I feel about no CFast - it's easier in the sense that it means no need to change my stash of cards from the 5D3, but I wonder if it's not looking ahead enough (considering the camera wouldn't just be for now, it'd be for the next few years).

4k video at 30fps and Full HD at 60fps feels about right in terms of market positioning (down from the 1DxII's 60 and 120fps respectively). Looking at the 1DxII's data rates for 4k, I assume the 30fps setting will work with CF cards.

OK, so give me more low ISO DR, better noise character, and 9 fps and my wallet will hurt. Actually it'll probably hurt a lot since the value of the British Pound has tanked -?
