Unknown to me as most insects are...despite not being able to properly name them
as man is want to do I still enjoy them. This beetle was caught outside, brought inside
for the image then returned to whence he came-

Thank you sir. This beetle measured 25mm....macro was hardly necessary.
He never moved when I put him on the perch; would have been a great opportunity
to grab frames for a stack but I didn't even think about it at the time.

Thanks to all.
You all must know how excited I get to see any insect. It really is like I live in a desert...well I think a real desert has more life.
The really strange thing about this beetle---remember I brought him inside to get a shot---was he remained perfectly still for the longest time.
