Hi,

So whenever shooting portraits for clients I shoot tethered and use a USB cable. It's not nearly instantaneous and was wondering if it would work better if I'd use a HDMI cable instead? Or would the speeds be almost the same?

Cheers

If your using Lightroom not much will speed it up. Try Capture One Pro it's super fast in comparison for tethering.

If you use HDMI output, you would only sending the signal from the camera to the monitor. It won't be saved to your computer or imported directly into Lightroom.
Anyhow, it takes about 3 seconds for the image to show up on the HDMI-connected monitor.

If you want to improve your USB2 transfer speed, then use a program like DSLR Remote Pro from Breeze Systems, and set it to record the RAW file to your CF card and a JPG to the tethered computer.
