I'm a bagaholic.

I have countless bags I'm not using anymore.

Any suggestions? What's a good use?

Sell them? If they are just sitting around why not thrown them up on Craigslist or on here and get some money for them.

Donate to Goodwill and take the Tax write off. Easy and it will be a great "find" for somebody. I buy lots of old music CD's from there, as they are only 2 bucks!

Whatever you do, don't hang on to unused stuff just to hang on to it. Moving it on in any manner is some of the best recycling we can do.

I just toss them, but I use them until they start to rip. Not just to get the newest model.

Hey, Dave

I also have a fair number of camera bags, but have always been able to put them all to use. My suggestion would be to have each of the extra bags be used for a specialty subject. For instance:

I have one camera bag that I use for the gear that I use when I am photographing turkeys. In this bag is where I keep a slate call, a box call, strikers, a compressible hen decoy, camouflage gloves, and a camouflage face mask.

Another bag is used for blind-building materials. In this bag I keep camouflage material (cloth), spring clamps, camo duct tape, boxes of safety pins, velcro strips, tent stakes, a utility knife, and a leatherman tool.

Yet another old camera bag is used as my firefighting bag, in which I keep the things I need when I get called to fight a wildfire; multi tool, flashlight, lighter, compass, GPS, spare batteries, watch, spare leather boot laces, safety glasses, signal mirror, IRPG booklet, small notepad, pen, rain poncho.

In another old camera bag I keep my birding kit, which consists of my Sibley Guide, binoculars, note (sketch) pad, pen, iPod with playback calls, external speaker, iPod car charger.

Another old camera bag has in it the things I take to my Artist Club meetings; paint brushes, a miniature plastic mixing palette, paper towels, and acrylic paints, along with a sketch pad and pencils and a pen or three.

.

In addition to these "dedicated" bags, I have a couple of other bags that are kept on standby for use as occasions call for it. I may put selected gear into a bag when I:

- go to Wenatchee for a Photography Club meeting (notebook, pen, business cards, piece of gear I have questions about)

- or when I go on a short morning hike (binoculars, dry pair of socks, topo map of the area, thermos of hot coffee, snacks, extra camera battery)

- or when I am going to a photo location that I already have set up, and just need some miscellaneous items for that particular shoot (for instance a woodpecker location three weeks ago - enduro ballhead, extra long speed plate, allen wrench set, mosquito proof headnet, heavy gloves, cordless drill with bits, ratcheting socket wrench, 3/8 stainless steel nuts, lock washers, 1" stainless steel hex head bolt, fender washers).

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I live in Toronto. I sold a Miata on kijiji. I had people I didn't want to meet come to my door. Just nervous that way

This sounds like a great idea. In the past I've brought my old bags to work and given them away to the guys who do photography.

But after buying my Black Rapid and Cotton Carrier, I use camera bags less and less.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.

Sell them. Or re-purpose them.

Then, buy more bags.

Very best,
